– Ekaterina, you are shooting in a very interesting fairy-tale genre. Tell us about it, please. What is it called? How did you discover it for yourself? As far as we understood, you were a wedding photographer?
– To be honest, I still do not understand the name of the genre in which I work. It is called differently: photo art, fine-art, digital-art, photo manipulation, etc. “Photo art” is closer to me.
I discovered this direction for myself a very long time ago, at about the same time as Photoshop. I spent a lot of time on photo resources, looked at and was inspired by the beautiful works of famous photo artists at that time. I still remember that passion and desire to do something new, to learn some tricks. I have always been interested in finding all the answers to my questions by myself, trying different methods.
Photo art has been my hobby for a long time, at first I really lacked the practice of a photographer, and I began to shoot, a lot and everything. At some point, I decided that I could become a real professional who is paid for a job, and not just an amateur, and that’s when I went to shoot weddings. I must say right away that I was madly in love with my work and even reached a fairly high level in this area. But since I just need to periodically change and develop something in my life, after working at weddings for five years, I switched to studio shooting. It just worked out the way it should have. Taking pictures in my genre requires careful preparation, concept and good studio lighting.
