In his most recent arrangement of watercolor canvases, The Lingering Revolution, American artist Rance Jones investigates the kids, ranchers, laborers, customers and merchants of Cuba against its remarkable backdrop of history.

Jones previously visited Cuba in 2018 and was quickly inspired to start his canvases of the current truth of life there. Making more visits from his local Texas, he fixed his eye on its local people and the music and culture that educates their every day lives.

Focusing on Havana, Jones investigates the homes, work environments and vistas that have such a huge impact in characterizing Cuba. Yet, his subject is human life, and the steady expectation, aspiration and commitment that inspire the lives of the Cuban people. A child strolling through the vegetable market has the splendid sparkle of expectation in her eye; a worker pulls his bore trouble with quality and resolve; a lady reads the newspaper and is retained. All are painted with meticulous detail and dynamic shading, uncovering a profound feeling of human emotion.
