Artist Alice Tye has propelled another arrangement taking us on a virtual road trip through USA.
Beginning in Miami and going through the southern states of the US before finishing off with Palm Desert, California, Street View Road Trip investigates an assortment of American landscapes.
Using just Google Street View for reference, the canvases utilize the contorted viewpoint made by the rotating camera to make scenes that are both distinctive and point by point yet shockingly still. The streets are unfilled, a left vehicle sits outside a motel, a single car follows in the distance.
The works of art catch the notable American tropes – the vehicles, the motels, the wide roads, yet the scenes don’t feel admired or blustering. They are just single minutes caught in a (virtual) trip.
